At Cesapu, we work to engage & empower individuals along their journey towards good health. We do this through participatory public health programming like our interactive cooking class, our knitting class, Zumba class, & surfing class. This methodology is new in Peru, a country that lacks innovative approaches to health, wellbeing, and healthy behaviors.
Why participatory healthcare?
- Participatory and interactive programs are highly effective for creating behavior change because they actively engage individuals, empower them to take ownership of their health, and promote a sense of personal responsibility.
- Our programs go beyond simply providing information and instead involve participants in the learning process through activities, discussions, and practical demonstrations. By actively involving individuals, these programs allow for firsthand experiences and personalized learning, making the information more relatable and memorable.
- Moreover, participation fosters a sense of empowerment, as individuals feel actively involved in decision-making processes and are more likely to take ownership of their health behaviors.
- Through group discussions and peer interactions, participants can share their experiences, challenges, and successes, creating a supportive environment that encourages behavior change.
