We offer ultrasound services 1-2 shifts per week (6-8 people per shift) We offer the following types of ultrasounds: abdominal, thyroid, obstetric, vaginal. Ultrasounds are 10 soles, and free for pregnant women. We collaborate with local health centers to attend more expectant mothers.

An overview of the importance of ultrasound:
Ultrasounds play a vital role in healthcare, particularly for poor communities, by providing valuable diagnostic information and improving access to medical care. Here’s an overview of the importance of ultrasounds in healthcare for poor communities:
Non-Invasive and Safe Imaging: Ultrasound imaging is non-invasive and safe, involving the use of sound waves to produce images of the internal structures of the body. It does not involve ionizing radiation like X-rays or CT scans, making it a preferred imaging modality, especially for vulnerable populations such as pregnant women and children.
Diagnostic Capability: Ultrasound technology allows healthcare providers to visualize and assess various body structures, including organs, blood vessels, and developing fetuses. It can help diagnose a wide range of conditions and diseases, such as abdominal issues, cardiovascular problems, tumors, and pregnancy-related complications. Early detection through ultrasounds can lead to timely intervention and improved treatment outcomes.
Affordability and Accessibility: Ultrasound machines are generally more affordable compared to other imaging technologies. This makes them more accessible, particularly in resource-limited settings and for poor communities where financial constraints may limit access to expensive medical equipment. Portable and handheld ultrasound devices further enhance accessibility by enabling point-of-care imaging in remote areas and low-resource settings.
Screening and Preventive Care: Ultrasounds can be used for screening purposes to detect potential health issues before they progress to advanced stages. This is particularly important for poor communities where access to regular healthcare may be limited. Ultrasound screenings can aid in identifying conditions such as ovarian cysts, gallstones, kidney stones, and certain cardiac abnormalities, allowing for early intervention and preventive care.
Maternal and Child Health: Ultrasound plays a crucial role in prenatal care by providing detailed imaging of the fetus. It helps monitor fetal development, assess the health of the mother and baby, identify any potential complications, and guide obstetric interventions. Ultrasound imaging is invaluable in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates by enabling early detection and management of pregnancy-related issues.
