Katie Baric is our Cofounder & Executive Director. She has her Bachelors in Science from NC State University 2014 and Masters of Public Health from University of Pittsburgh 2016 from the department of Behavioral & Community Health Sciences and a concentration in Global Health. From the early age of 12, Katie has been passionate about implementing solutions to the global poverty crisis- working specifically in Honduras and Peru. In 2013, at age 21, Katie co-founded the international nonprofit Hands on Peru and in 2016, she spearheaded the establishment of Peru’s first Center for Public Health, known as “Cesapu – Centro de Salud Pública”, located in Trujillo, Peru.
Katie has over 18 years of experience in global health & development initiatives. Her areas of expertise include: public health program development, implementation & evaluation, community engagement, behavioral health, nonprofit fundraising, staff training & development, social enterprise strategy & international relations. She is particularly passionate about holistic human development, reducing multidimensional poverty, and gender equity. Katie works directly with communities to understand their gaps and barriers to health in order to create organic and sustainable interventions that will address the health problems from the root. She designed each community program and trains local leaders in the art of dynamic public health programming.
She is passionate about training future healthcare professionals in global public health, and has directly worked with over 350 volunteers from Universities all around the world. She is an avid public speaker and champion of young leaders in social projects, overseeing collaborative projects with Yale University, Deloitte Consulting, Basel University (Switzerland), UNC Morehead Cain Scholarship, NC State, and dozens of other Universities in Peru and around the world.
Katie speaks Spanish & English fluently and spends most of her time in Huanchaco, Peru. She is an avid surfer, amateur musician, and yoga teacher.
